This is why I love collectibles

Need a reason to be involved in collecting? This week has provided it

It's weeks like this that make me realise how lucky I am to be working in collectibles.

Just look at the fascinating stories in this week's newsletter.

Gandhi's iconic spinning wheel sells for $175,000, Bob Dylan's guitar from his famous/infamous Newport Folk Festival electric gig is coming to auction, and close to 1,500 artworks confiscated by the Nazis have been found in Munich.

The world of collectibles and memorabilia is constantly throwing up pieces like these, which offer far more than simply their outward appearance. They tell a story. They are pieces of history. They stir emotions - perhaps because they make you remember what you were doing when these great events were taking place, or perhaps because their importance to history strikes you with awe.

A journalist recently asked me why I've spent the last 35 years working in the collectibles business - I got the feeling she was suggesting I should have been doing something else!

I told her that it is all to do with passion.

A passion for learning about history.

A passion for collecting important pieces from history.

A passion for sharing my enthusiasm with like-minded collectors.

And that's where Paul Fraser Collectibles comes in.

To the outside observer, we are a collectibles dealer that also provides a news service on the sector.

Anyone who has bought items through us knows that we are much more.

Many of my clients down the years I now count as good friends. We always have lots to talk about. We are united by a love of history, and a love for owning rare artefacts from that history.

When you pick up the phone to us, you're going to speak to an expert in the field who shares your passion for owning the world's rarest, most fascinating treasures.

And remember, if nothing tickles your fancy among our current stock items, don't despair.

We pride ourselves on tracking down collectibles to order - no matter how obscure! In fact, we're in the process of sourcing around 15m-worth of items for our clients around the world as I write.
