The Silver Trust Collection showcases works from Britain's finest silversmiths, including Martyn Pugh, Malcolm Appleby, Clive Burr, Jane Short, Richard Fox and Rod Kelley. Britain has long been regarded as the central hub for silver production in the world.

On permanent loan to 10 Downing Street, the collection is used to entertain the world's royalty, political leaders and dignitaries.

The exhibition takes place from July 29-September 5. It coincideswith an online selling exhibition at the auction house, featuring objects commissioned from over 60 contemporary British silversmiths, with prices ranging from 650 ($985) to 48,000 ($728,035).

"We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Silver Trust for the third time, having most recently collaborated with them in 2003, to provide a space for the exhibition of the Silver Trust Collection," said Jeffrey Lassaline, director of Christie's silver department.

"This group of contemporary British silver shows the diversity, ingenuity and quality of silversmiths working in the United Kingdom in the 20th and 21st century."

"The exciting online sale coinciding with this exhibition offers clients the chance to own pieces by some of the silversmiths who have already worked with the Silver Trust and some who may be used for future commissions."

The selling exhibition features works from 61 members of Contemporary British Silversmiths, a group launched in 1996 to give a voice to a new generation of silversmiths.

Leading British silversmiths Martyn Pugh and Jane Short have created a magnificent silver cream jug especially for the sale, which will star among the selections onoffer. Pieces are available to purchase online from August 6.
