In a collection dedicated to Thai occupation of Kelantan stamps, the first day cover stars

A first day cover from the Thai occupation of Kelantan will see some of the highest bids in Dynasty Auctions' May 18-19 sale in Hong Kong.

The sale features two specialised collections of second world war Thai and Japanese occupations, with the Thai occupation cover holding an estimate of $25,774-38,661.

Kelantan is a state in what was Malaya, which was returned to Thailand in 1943, when the Japanese took control of the region.

The cover bears a complete set of five values, 1c to 10c, and is addressed to Singapore.

All of the stamps are tied with a "Kota Bharu Kelantan" English only double ring circular date stamp.This is the only recorded example featuring all five stamps.

The cover bears the most stamps from the Kota Bharu issue ever seen

Another cover will follow with an identical estimate, which bears an impressive 12 stamps from the same Kota Bharu issue - the most ever seen on a single cover.

Of particular interest are five of the 2c stamps, which are shorter than the standard varierty by about one perforation hole.

The cover also features a boxed bilingual Kota Bharu censor marking, along with a boxed Ipon number six Japanese censor in purple. It was sent to Singapore on December 21, 1943.

The top lot of the sale will be a lot comprising a full sheet of each value from the Thai occupation of Kelantan, which is valued at $128,872-193,308.
