Stone Roses, Primal Scream and Oasis memorabilia set to make a big noise

Items from Alan McGee's collection will be offered, including a painting by the Stone Roses' John Squire

We've already reported on the upcoming sale of John Lennon's tooth at Omega next week, but the auction contains a number of different and impressive pieces of music memorabilia relating to Primal Scream, the Stone Roses and even Oasis. Some of it has been offered by former Creation Records boss Alan McGee.

The main challenge for top lot to Lennon's dental work comes from a painting by John Squire of the newly reformed Stone Roses. It is an oil painting named Jesus and Mary. The painting is named after the band Jesus and the Mary Chain whom John spent a lot of time listening to whilst with the Roses.

With this work Squire has attempted to visually emulate some of their sounds through the use of splatter paints which is the same methods used for the artwork on the Stone Roses albums/singles.

Alan McGee acquired the work in 2007 for 17,000 following exhibition at the Smithfield Gallery, London. Here it is listed at 12,000-16,000 (up to $25,500).

It's always interesting to see musicians expressing themselves artistically. We're currently offering a simple signed John Lennon sketch, which we're so impressed by it that it qualifies for our 120% guarantee.

The Squire painting is closely followed in Omega's listings by another artwork owned by McGee: an oil painting by Paul Cannell who was in house artist at Creation Records at the time which was used on for the cover of the Primal Scream single Don't Feel It Fight It.

Cannell is now dead (he took his own life in 2005, aged 42) so there will not be any more works forthcoming, sadly.

McGee is also offering some Oasis memorabilia including an original and framed Jill Furmanovsky black and white print of Noel Gallagher - a one off print gifted by Furmanovsky to Alan McGee prior to the release of Be Here Now.

This is only listed at 400-600, but this seems a little low given how strong interest in Noel is. He has just scored the number one slot for his album and his songs are already becoming classics. Interest in the Stone Roses is obviously high too as they re-unite.

The auction takes place in Stockport UK and online, with bids closing on November 5.
