Stephen Hallock (watch collector)
Stephen Hallock (watch collector) is arguably one of the world’s best-known watch collectors. The American has a particular passion for the artistry of watches and new designs achieved through experimentation with complications.
He believes that watches with daring designs are growing increasingly popular with collectors looking for something different from traditional timepieces.
Hallock is a former hedge fund manager and financial consultant.
In 2008 he turned his back on the financial sector and opened a North American subsidiary of Swiss horological creative laboratory MB&F.
“I have loved watches for my entire life, but the more I learned about the watches and the industry, the more many of them started to feel like a commodity rather than a wearable piece of art,” Hallock writes in Whitewall.
“Once I learned about the very niche world of these independent creators, my passion returned.”
Hallock contributes to a large number of horological websites and is also a modern-art enthusiast.
