Signed Beatles Love Me Do currently selling at $20,000

A signed copy of the Beatles' first single, Love Me Do, will see strong results this evening

A signed copy of the Beatles' first ever single, Love Me Do, is currently selling for $19,976 in an online auction that ends later today (October 17). The sale will mark the 50th anniversary of the record's release.

Beatles Rare Signed Love Me Do single Brian Epstein was accused of rigging UK charts by ordering 10,000 copies

The extremely rare Parlophone red label record is signed by all members of the Beatles on the B Side in black ballpoint, with each adding "xxx" after their autograph. The record's value is further boosted by the fact that it was signed just one day after its release, at one of the band's promotional signings on October 6, 1962.

Coupled with PS I Love You as the B Side, the single would peak in the UK charts at 17, but went on to become a number one hit in the US two years later. The record itself rates "very good minus" for condition and will be accompanied by its original sleeve. The signatures are in fine condition, marred only by light contrast to a small portion of three of them.

Also selling well in the sale is the secondissue of the fanzine Beatles Book Monthly, which was signed in September 1963 after a concert in Blackpool, England. Each of the four band members has signed on a full-page photograph of themselves, with the lot accompanied by two letters of authenticity from noted Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo, who states: "These represent excellent examples of their signatures from that time period."It is currently selling for $10,123.

Beatles autographs have grown in value by 9.69% since 2000, according to the PFC40 Autograph Index.
