Sid Luckman 1948 Leaf (yellow background) PSA 8

2015-06-26 10:48:38

This yellow specimen of the #1 card from the 1948 Leaf set is extremely rare. Such #1 cards are seldom found in top condition and of the many background varieties available for Luckman’s rookie card, yellow was the least common.1

Despite being issued towards the end of his career, this and the corresponding Bowman 1948 issue, are Luckman’s rookie cards.

Quarterback Luckman played for the Chicago Bears from 1939 to 1950. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1965.

He is regarded as one of the greatest long range passers in the game’s history.2

The card has been valued at $71,800, making it the second-most valuable football card.3
