Sheep bought for record 230k...
And it will likely father pedigree lambs worth millions for its new owner, say experts
A British farmer has paid a new world record price for a sheep - and says the animal is the finest specimen he has ever seen, reports the Associated Press.
Farmer Jimmy Douglas forked out 231,000 for the eight months-old Texel ram, called Deveronvale Perfection, at an annual sale in Lanark, Scotland.
The ram has "a great body and strong loin," said Mr Douglas.
The fee, paid last Thursday, is a world record and eclipses a 205,000 sheep sale in Australia in 1989, according to the British Texel Sheep Society.
And the ram will likely father pedigree lambs worth millions of pounds for his new owner, said society member John Yates, according to AP.
Breeder Graham Morrison, of Banff, Scotland, says he is staggered by the price - but insists Deveronvale Perfection lives up to his name.
