Sharon Osborne auctions limited-edition Fendi Spy handbag for charity

Mrs Ozzy has followed in Cheryl Cole's footsteps by auctioning a piece of her wardrobe for charity...

Her husband might be nicknamed The Prince of Darkness, but Sharon Osbourne could emerge as the Princess of Collectibles when bids in an online auction for a Fendi Spy handbag once owned by her close on July 17.

The television personality and wife of former Black Sabbath singer, Ozzy Osbourne, has signed the bag's label, put up for sale by website Sellebrity. Bids have so-far crept up to 100. Given Mrs Osborne's global celebrity, it will be interesting to see how much further they climb.

The bag itself is large and originally produced in a limited edition. It will be auctioned with a signed photo and description to go with the autographed brown label. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to charity The Prince's Trust.

This is the second X Factor-affiliated charity auction in recent times. Last month Cheryl Cole, the UK pop singer who replaced Osborne on the judging panel of the popular TV talent show, put 20 of her dresses up for sale.

They included Cole's extravagant 3.1 Phillip Lim playsuit, which she wore at the X Factor audition in 2009. The dress would normally cost 318.50 ($524.10). But how do such pieces hold up as investments?

As we commented at the time, whereascelebrity memorabiliarelated to the likes ofMadonnaandMarilyn Monroe could offer a path to 'sure thing' investments, collectibles linked to newer celebrities are not always guaranteed to fare well in terms of future value.

That said, Sharon Osbourne's celebrity profile is far more established than Cole's in the all-important USA markets. This, combined with the bag's limited edition status, makes it more likely that it could be sold for a profit in future years.
