Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie celebrates fine watchmaking in Geneva

Now entering its third decade, the 21st event's exhibitors include Audemars Piguet, IWC and Piaget

The 21st Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie will begin on Monday with its 19 exhibiting brands in 30,000 sq m of floorspace at Palexpo, Geneva. This private trade fair will also host an outstanding exhibition of "Treasures from the Beyer Clock and Watch Museum in Zurich".

Montblanc Timepieces presented at the SIHH 2010

This will show some eighty of the most significant pieces from its collection, in an exhibition that traces the history of time measurement from the sundial to the twentieth-century wristwatch. A richly illustrated catalogue in French, German and English will accompany the exhibition.

This SIHH 2011 will open in a far more favourable climate. After weathering the storm blown up by global economic crisis, Swiss watchmaking is experiencing an upturn in activity that bodes well for the fair. This next SIHH should therefore live up to its reputation as a foremost private trade fair for Fine Watchmaking, and at the same time confirm the recovery observed over recent months.

An even more selective invitation policy will ensure the presence of an exclusive clientele of retailers who are the ambassadors for Fine Watchmaking worldwide, together with the most respected international journalists.

This 21st SIHH will thus take place in a context that will again give full expression to the craftsmanship, culture and innovation that are the very foundations of technical and precious Fine Watchmaking.

Exhibiting watchmakers include: A.Lange & Shne, Alfred Dunhill, Audemars Piguet, Baume & Mercier, Cartier, JeanRichard, Girard Perregaux, Greubel Forsey, IWC, Jaeger LeCoultre, Montblanc, Officine Panerai, Parmigiani Fleurier, Piaget, Ralph Lauren Watch & Jewelry Co, Richard Mille, Roger Dubuis, Vacheron Constantin and Van Cleef & Arpels.

The event will run from January 17-21, 2011. Collectors and investors interested in classic editions may be interested to know that this Longines Men's stainless steel quartz Olympic series wrist watch is currently available.
