The collection has languished in a garage for decades before being brought to auction. In various states of repair, the cars sold for more than 290,000 ($468,684).

Leading bids was a 1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Touring Saloon, whichmade 62,720 ($101,365). It was estimated at 20,000-30,000, realising a 109% increase on estimate.

Original condition cars are highly valued by collectors as worthy restoration projects. In October, Bonhams held its Preserving the Automobile auction, showcasing largely original and unrestored cars, while the Lambrecht Chevrolet auction featured hundreds of rare Chevrolet models that had never been driven.
