The Road Map Collectors Association is an association dedicated to the collection of road maps, many of which are or were produced by gas companies, such as Texaco and Chevron.

The association is based in the US and members can enjoy access to the association’s quarterly publication The Legend. The newsletter contains articles regarding collecting, map makers and cartography.

The association has an annual expo.

Website

The association has an extensive website, which provides a wealth of information for road map collectors.

Official Maps Master List

Here collectors can view a list of official maps produced by state or provincial governments in the US and Canada.

Maps by the decade

There is a fascinating display of road maps through the ages, beginning with specimens from the early 1900s. A small amount of information is provided about each map.

Map codes

The website includes date codes for Rand McNally and HM Gousha maps, the main two map producers in the US. This enables collectors to ascertain a year of publication for maps lacking this information.
