Revealing the 'priceless' Davidoff Grand Cru cigar

Among the world's most loved cigars, we peel the layers of Zino Davidoff's first-ever smoke

The Davidoff Grand Cru was the initial series released by therenowned cigar maker, Zino Davidoff (1906-1994), released in 1946 while his family were still located in Geneva, Switzerland.

Davidoff's cigars were designed to 'perfection and harmony' in their looks, presentation, flavour, aroma and burn - all five of which were achieved in this legendary smoke.

Instantly noticeable about the Grand Cru is its silky-smooth and rich caramel brown famous single-wrapped leaf.

Rolled from one contiguous tobacco leaf by the best rollers - a skill which most can't achieve - the leaf isand blended to perfection, within seamless wrappers.

Today, the Grand Cru series is looked upon as setting the standard for full-flavoured, medium bodied cigars; with itshand-selected four-year-aged Dominican fillers, and an Ecuadorian Connecticut shade wrapper.

Davidoff moved its production to Cuba in 1969, and later the Dominican Republic in 1990. Today, the Grand Cru is one of eight different lines of premium handmade cigars made by the brand.

These are: the Grand Cru, Limited Edition, Zino Platinum Scepter, Millennium Blend, Aniversario, Mille, Specials, and the Classic series - all of which are given a meticulous 72-point inspection by Davidoff.

Davidoff cigars are based on five different types of tobacco, each aged for at least four years for a smooth and distinctive taste. The Grand Cru contains a carefully blended mixture, including salty Olor, San Vicente, and peppery Piloto Cubano tobaccos

Descriptions of the uniqueflavour created by this blend range from "deliciously creamy," "intensely complex" and "sweet and spicy" to even "priceless" -all contained within a splendid burn.

As a result of its pioneering craftsmanship and quality, Davidoff Grand Cru cigars are today among the most valuable and sought-after on the collectors' markets.
