Rare Tiffany Daffodil lamp headlines Clars decorative arts sale

A rare and important Tiffany lamp will be one of the many highlights of the upcoming Clars Auction Gallery decorative arts and antiques sale.

The sale will feature a fine selection decorative arts and furnishings including glass, silverware, ceramics and artwork.

Headlining the sale will be the Tiffany Studios Daffodil table lamp, with a large 20" shade featuring cascading daffodils, made in New York circa 1910 and estimated at $80,000 - $120,000.

It will be offered alongside a selection of equally impressive Tiffany Studio lamps including a pulled glass Fireball table lamp estimated at $25,000 - $35,000 and one of just two known early leaded glass fireball lamps valued at $45,000 - $55,000.

Notable artworks featured include the 1905 Native American portrait ‘Does Everything - Crow Chief, Custer and Reno Scout’ by Joseph Henry Sharp ($30,000 - $50,000), Wayne Thiebaud’s 1971 aquatint ‘Black Suckers (from ‘Seven Still Lifes and a Silver Landscape)’ valued at $25,000 - $35,000 and the oil on canvas ‘Afterglow at the Seashore’ by Californian artist Arthur Frank Mathews, estimated at $20,000 – $30,000.

Amongst the top decorative arts lots is a Harold Hals-designed Teco glazed earthenware vase, circa 1900-04. This matt-green glazed Arts and Crafts vase is highly rare, with just two similar examples having previously appeared at auction, and is conservatively estimated at $25,000 - $35,000.

Furniture highlights will include a Louis XVI style ormolu-mounted kingwood library table, made in France circa 1900 by François Linke, valued at $15,000 - $25,000, and a pair of Chinese 'Vietnamese huanguali' and wood side tables priced at $8,000 - $12,000.

The wide variety of lots on offer will also include original Peanuts cartoon strip artwork by Charles Schulz, fine wine, jewelry andwatches, autographed letters, a collection of Chinese and Russian currency and even a carved carousel reindeer with real horn antlers.

The sale is scheduled for Sunday February 17, as part of the Clars two-day Fine Antiques and Estate Sale in Oakland, California.
