A superb replica of the scooter driven by Jimmy in the Who's Quadrophenia will sell at Bonhams' Beaulieu Sale on September 6.

Quadrophenia scooterThe scooters were reproduced for the DVD re-release of Quadrophenia

The sale will be held at the National Motor Museum in the UK, with the iconic Lambretta scooter set to sell for between 10,000-12,000 ($17,000-20,500).

The replicas were produced to promote the DVD re-release of the film, with scooter-building specialist David JohnWyburnusing the original Lambretta Series 3 models from 1966. The reproduction was given the authorisation of the film.

This example is numbered "2" on the bodywork, with Bonhams stating that the remainder of those produced were owned by members of the Who and Liam Gallagher of Oasis.

The replica has the exact colour scheme of that used in the film, with the film example's registration "KRU 251" on the mudguard. It also featured a number of Southend shield badges, Stadium mirrors, a Wassell Lambretta badgeand the original Ken Cobbing air horns.

Quadrophenia tells the story of a young working-class "Mod" and the infamous violence between Mods and Rockers on Brighton beach on Whitsun Bank Holiday in 1964.

This year, the 50th anniversary of the Whitsun clashes coincides with the Who's own 50th birthday, with strong bids expected at the auction.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has a brilliant signed photo of the Who for sale.
