'Pure Old Highland Whisky' brings nearly $6,370 in Glasgow sale
Aged 22 years, and malted in Spanish Oloroso casks, the dram was cause for celebration at McTear's
McTear's of Glasgow is known for its Rare & Collectible Whisky sales, and its January 25 auction didn't disappoint.
Over 700 dreamy drams went under the hammer, with one lot in particular emerging shoulders and neck above the rest...
The lot in question was a six bottle set of Glenmorangie 1963 Pure Old Highland Whisky, aged 22 years, and finished in Spanish Oloroso casks for one further year. All the bottles remained in their original cartons.
In the end, the bottles sold for dead-on their high estimate: 4,000 (nearly $6,370) - a great entry-level investment for one lucky whisky collector.
Also in its original presentation box was a limited-edition Glencadam 25-year-old decanter, distilled and bottled by the Glencadam Distillery and numbered 44 of 1,000. In the end, it brought 1,200.
