Princess Diana's Escada tie auctions with 27% increase on estimate

A designer Escada tie worn by Princess Diana in 1994 has sold for $5,970

An Escada tie worn by Princess Diana during a visit to Saint Mary's Hospital has sold for 3,800 ($5,970) at Reeman Dansie Auctioneers today (June 18).

The tie is decorated with elephants and can be seen in pictures of the princess during the 1994 visit, in which she saw her newborn nephew, Louis Spencer, for the first time.

It was expected to sell for 2,000-3,000, but the enduring popularity of the People's Princess at auction ensured a 26.6% increase on this estimate.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has a huge range of Princess Diana collectibles, charting the life of one of Britain's best-loved and most collectible royals.
