Polly Pocket Wizard of Oz playset
The Polly Pocket Wizard of Oz playset is a toy in the Polly Pocket style produced by the Turner Entertainment Co in 2001.
Details and features
Although described by many as a Polly Pocket The Wizard of Oz playset, the toy is in fact not part of the range produced by Mattel and was issued by Turner Entertainment Co. It is however similar in its style, design and size to many Polly Pocket sets, and is treated by many collectors as a Polly Pocket product.
The set features a fold-out plastic version of Oz including the Munchkin village, the Yellow Brick Road, the Wicked Witch of the West’s castle and the Emerald Castle. This includes a number of moving features, secret compartments and lights. It also includes the following small plastic figures:
- Glinda, The Good Witch of the North
- Dorothy, carrying Toto in a basket on her left arm
- Wicked Witch of the West
- Wizard of Oz
- Tin Man
- Cowardly Lion
- Three Munchkins
These playsets are fairly rare in NIB (New In Box) condition, and can sell for more than $100 to some collectors. Individual replacement figures can also sell for up to $10 each, as the value of a set decreases drastically if it is incomplete in any way.
