Pillsbury Doughboy Collectibles are items of memorabilia relating to the longstanding company mascot and advertising icon the Pillsbury Doughboy.

Brief History & Description

Also commonly known as Poppin’ Fresh, the Pillsbury Doughboy appeared in many commercials promoting The Pillsbury Company products from 1965 until 2004. Most of the commercials end with a human finger poking the character’s stomach. This is followed by the Doughboy giggling and rubbing his stomach.

The Pillsbury Doughboy was created by Rudy Perz, a copy writer for the advertising agency Leo Burnett, whilst he was sitting in his kitchen under pressure to come up with a new advertising campaign. Perz imagined a living boy made of dough squeezing out of a Pillsbury Crescent Rolls can.

The Pillsbury Doughboy wears a hat and a scarf, two big blue eyes and emits a soft chuckle when poked in the stomach. The Doughboy was originally drawn by American cartoonist and commercial artist Martin Nodell.
