Piaget Haute Joaillerie watch strikes $106,500 at Christie's

A Piaget Haute Joaillerie watch made a 77% increase on its estimate

An 18k white gold and diamond Piaget Haute Joaillerie model sold for $106,250 at Christie's Dubaiauction of Important Watches on October 29.

It performed impressively against its valuation of $40,000-60,000 - achieving an increase of 77%.

The watch features a total of 236 baguette cut diamonds, equating to a total weight of 30.6 carats, and 192 round brilliant cut diamonds making up a combined weight of 15.4 carats.

It was manufactured in 1984 and features mechanical lever movement along with a pave-set diamond dial.

A Breguet 1801-2001 anniversary watch made $97,500 against an estimate of $60,000-80,000 - up 22%.

The watch was designed to mark the anniversary of the invention of the tourbillon by Abraham Louis Breguet, the company's founder.

The half hunter case is made from 18k pink gold, and the watch is powered by an eccentric silver engine-turned display - revealed by pressing a button on the crown that lifts the hinged cover.

A one-minute tourbillon carriage is visible through the dial.

Last year,a Duc d'Orleans Breguet Sympathiquemade $6.8m at Sotheby's in New York, becoming the most valuable Breguet timepiece ever sold at auction.
