Patrouille de France memorabilia on sale

Htel Drouot is offering flight suits from the French aerobatic team

The Patrouille de France in action

The Patrouille Acrobatique de France, or simply Patrouille de France, is one of the world's oldest and most accomplished aerobatic exhibition teams.

Founded in 1931, the team's most recent demonstration was carried out by 10 Alpha Jets in Buenos Ares, Argentina, where they repeatedly drew the French and Argentinean flags in the sky.

Today (December 21), Htel Drouot is selling off aviation memorabilia connected with the service for the benefit of charity. The sale takes place in Paris.

Highlights of the sale include:

The flight suit and plates of Souberbielle Benjamin, 2009 leader of the Patrouille de France.

The flight suit of Virginia Guyot, the first woman to be part of the Patrouille de France.

Athos, Patrouille de France's mascot (a flight-suited teddy bear), which has travelled with them since 2007. The bear's log book is included in the sale.

There are also several photos autographed by the pilots. The funds raised will go to the Mcnat ChirurgieCardiaque - a heart disease charity which supports children undergoing heart operations.

Those interested in aviation autographs may be interested to know that a signed picture of the crew which flew the Bockscar plane in WW2.
