A UK auction of Vintage and Modern Wristwatches was highlighted yesterday (October 15)by the sale of a Patek Philippe Annual Calendar.

The auction saw a range of mid-level offerings from some of the world's top brands, including the illustrious Patek Philippe. Reference 5035G sold at the top of the auction, bringing 12,000 ($19,294) against a 10,000-15,000 estimate.

Patek Philippe ref 5035GLike many Patek Philippes, the watch has a crystal sapphire plate on the reverse

The 18k white gold automatic men's watch sports a black dial with hourly applied Roman numerals, bordered by a minute track. Its tonneau shaped case is fitted with an authentic black alligator strap with an 18k white gold pin buckle. The watch was sold complete with its original box and papers in excellent condition, with only light creasing to the strap.

Following this was an 18k gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day Date bracelet watch, made circa 1991. The lavish piece boasted a black diamond string dial, hourly applied diamond markers and a complementary diamond track, with two diamond links on its bracelet. It sold for 8,700 ($13,992), pushing towards its high estimate of 9,000.

Also selling well was a Breitling Navitimer wristwatch, which brought 7,000 ($11,257), sitting comfortably within its 5,800-7,800 valuation. The limited edition was number 473 of 500 produced by Breitling, featuring an 18k gold case with an authentic brown alligator strap. Itsvalue was loweredby the top pusher sticking and a few light surface scratches.

Paul Fraser Collectibles is currently offering a classic Olympic Series wristwatch from Longines - one of the oldest and most respected Swiss luxury watchmakers.
