A very rare cabinet photo with superb signature

A rare 'Sarony' photograph of Oscar Wilde signed in New York during his famous 1882 American tour.

When he disembarked from the S.S. Arizona at the New York Custom House in NYC he stated that " I have nothing to declare but my genius.......".

It is signed 'Oscar Wilde / NY / '82." Sepia, 4x5.5", laid down on the original photographer's mount with the Sarony trademark imprint.

The image features Wilde in a head and shoulder pose,turning slightly to his right.

Wilde has boldly signed on a light portion of the image across the top.

Thephotograph has a light diagonal crease from the top edge to the lower right edge passing through the image and between "Oscar" and "Wilde".

Otherwise in fine condition, this is arare and sought-after signing.
