Original 1936 Olympics basketball estimated at $50,000

A Canadian player brought home the original basketball from the 1936 Berlin Olympics

An original basketball from the 1936 Olympics, held in Berlin under the Nazis, will be offered at Goldin Auctions in Baltimore on July 12 with an estimate of $50,000.

The ball is being consigned by Jim Stewart of Windsor, Ontario, whose father was a member of the 1936 Windsor Ford V8s - the team that representedCanada in the tournament.

Stewart told the Windsor Star, a local newspaper: "It's like anything else, if you can get a souvenir, you take it".

"He wanted a memento from the game and ended up with the ball at the end of the game."
