Olivetti Valentine typewriters are collectible typewriters, first released on February 14 (Valentine’s Day) in 1969.


Olivetti was founded in Turin, Italy 1908 as a typewriter manufacturer.

It opened its first manufacturing facility overseas in 1930 and merged with typewriter manufacturer Underwood in 1963, after purchasing the company in 1959.

In recent years the company has become known for its computers and printers.

It is currently owned by Telecom Italia.

Olivetti Valentine typewriters

Designed by Ettore Sottsass, the plastic-cased Olivetti Valentine is a highly collectible mechanical typewriter. It was first released on Valentine’s Day 1969.

Its striking features have made it a big hit with typewriter collectors.

How much are Olivetti Valentine typewriters worth?

Good condition examples from 1969 can achieve up to $500 at internet auctions.

Those manufactured in the 1970’s are less desirable but can still achieve good sums, with the least expensive specimens available for $50.
