Collectibles have many different uses. Whether you want to impress your friends with a rare autograph, expand your knowledge with a rare book, enjoy travelling in a classic car... or decorate your home with the world's finest items.

If your living room is missing a 19th century Persian carpet, then you have a chance to rectify the problem in an upcoming Boston, Massachussetts, auction on February 11.

More than 300 lots of fine Oriental rugs and carpets will be offered in the sale. These include Persian, Anatolian, Turkish, Indian and Caucasian rugs and carpets.

Leading the auction with the highest presale estimate is this Persian carpet. It is being offered from an impressive collection of Serapi rugs.

Measuring 13 ft 4 inches x 8 ft 6 inches, the Serapi rug was made in Northwest Persia during the late 19th century.

How much could you expect to pay for a rare art textile of this calibre? Despite "minor even wear to [its] centre" Boston auctioneer Skinner has listed the carpet with a $25,000-30,000 presale estimate.

Other sale highlights include a top-of-the-line Motasham Kashan workshop carpet from Central Persia (estimated between $15,000 and $20,000) and a West Persian Fereghan-Sarouk Carpet in near-perfect condition ($20,000-25,000).
