Neil Armstrong autograph brings $1,300 to US auction

Moonwalker Neil Armstrong's autograph rocketed to $1,300 to lead the Pennsylvania sale

Astronaut Neil Armstrong's autograph has seen the highest bids in a sale of top celebrity signatures, which was held on February 23 in Pennsylvania.

Neil Armstrong As shown in the 1972 letter, Armstrong was always a reluctant signer

The typed letter sold for $1,500, confirming the PFC40 Autograph Index's findings that following his death in 2012, the Moonwalker's signature has seen a significant leap in value.

The letter reveals Armstrong's refusal to sign any philatelic items in 1972, a policy that he would later expand to all requests for his autograph. This led to a short supply which, coupled with continued high demand, makes Armstrong's signature one of the most valuable of all.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has a complete set of autographs from all three members of the Apollo 11 mission, as well as a complete set of signed photographs from every astronaut to have set foot on the Moon.
