'My Bonnie' Beatles single could bring $30,000+ at Heritage Auctions

A copy of My Bonnie, the single the Beatles recorded with Tony Sheridan, will sell tomorrow

An extremely rare copy of My Bonnie, the famed single that the Beatles produced with Tony Sheridan, will sell as part of Heritage Auctions' Entertainment & Music Memorabilia sale tomorrow (July 24).

My Bonnie the Beatles Tony SheridanDue to poor sales, promo versions now outnumber commercial copies

After meeting Sheridan in Hamburg in 1961, the Beatles provided support for a series of his live performances. They were soon asked to record material with Sheridan, and a single comprising My Bonnie and The Saints was released in October 1961.

Unfortunately, Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers did not inspire the same hysteria in Americathat the Beatles would when their first US album was released in 1963. The majority of the few copies that were pressed were destroyed soon after release, and the pink labelled promo copy now outnumbers the commercial version. With as little as 20-25 available to collectors, the commercial copy at auction is expected to bring $30,000+. Paul Fraser Collectibles believes this to be a good estimate for the record as another copy in similar condition sold for $30,000 in March this year. Last week, a rare copy of the Beatles' first US album, IntroducingThe Beatles, sold for $15,000 on eBay. Our A Hard Day's Night cover is one of just 8-10 to have been signed by all members of the band, and is an extremely desirable item for collectors.Another highlight among the Beatles memorabilia we have in stock is the first contract signed by Brian Epstein and the band - a truly unique piece of music history.
