Mego Dukes of Hazzard action figures
Mego Dukes of Hazzard action figures are a range of vintage toys based on the popular U.S television series The Dukes Of Hazzard.
The Dukes of Hazzard was a popular television show which ran from 1979 until 1985. According to records, Mego paid just $2,500 for the licensing rights to the figures, which went on to be one of the most popular television shows of its day and the second-highest rated in the U.S at one point.
The Mego Dukes of Hazzard action figures
Mego produced Dukes of Hazzard figures in two sizes, 8” and 3 ¾”. The first set of 8” figures was released in 1980, and featured four characters – Luke, Bo, Daisy Duke and Boss Hogg. Each was fully poseable, and came with a removeable outfit.
The popularity of 3 ¾” figures which followed off the back of the first Star Wars figures in 1978 meant that small figures eventually became an industry standard and the second set of Mego Dukes of Hazzard figures came in this size.
In addition to the first four main characters, it added four more to the range in the second release – Roscoe, Cletus, Cooter and Uncle Jesse. In addition, there were also three vehicles produced; the General Lee, a Police car and Daisy’s white jeep.
How much are Dukes of Hazzard action figures worth?
The figures are sought after by collectors, with the highest prices paid for unopened figures still in their blister packs. Prices can vary wildly, with sold examples on sites such as eBay ranging from $30 up to $150.
The rarest and most valuable are the 3 ¾” figures from the second release, as these were lesser characters and fewer were produced. These have been known to sell for around $80 - $100, and whereas the prices for the first four (main) characters can vary greatly the second four are more sought after by collectors.
The larger 8” figures are also popular, but generally fetch lower prices. Unopened, carded figures have sold for between $30 and $50 in some circumstances.
