Marvel Select Juggernaut Action Figure
The character of Juggernaut appears in the X-Men series of comic books, and made his debut in 1965 in X-Men #12. The character’s real name is Cain Marko, the half-brother of X-Men leader Charles Xavier (Professor X) who disappeared whilst fighting alongside his brother with the U.S Army in Korea.
Cain discovered a giant ruby within a hidden temple, marked with the inscription:
"Whosoever touches this gem shall be granted the power of the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak! Henceforth, you who read these words, shall become … forevermore … a human juggernaut!"
Upon touching the ruby he becomes an unstoppable force who returns to haunt his half-brother years later by fighting against the X-Men on a regular basis.
Figure design and appearance
The Juggernaut figure is one of the largest in the Marvel Select line, measuring 9” tall and featuring 16 points of articulation at the head, biceps, shoulders, elbows, torso, hips, thighs, knees and ankles.
The figure wears a vest and leggings which resemble thick brown textured leather, with matching brown strapping on the biceps, forearms and knuckles. It also wears knee-high brown boots and the character’s trademark metal domed helmet.
In addition to the standard figure, a limited-edition variant was released without a helmet (as this is not removable on the first figure).
Due to the size of the figure it does not come complete with a large detailed display base like the majority of Marvel Select figures. Included with the figure is a cardboard back-drop showing a scene of destruction, which is held in place with a grey rock-effect display stand.
