Marilyn Monroe silk purse currently at $10,800 in online auction

Marilyn Monroe's red feather and silk purse comes from the estate of co-star Tommy Noonan

A lavish red feather and silk purse which once belonged to Marilyn Monroe is currently selling well in an online sale that closes today (September 25).

The bag originates from the estate of Tommy Noonan, who played Monroe's wealthy boyfriend in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes - one of the actress' most famous films. It was first offered at auction in 1999, when Christie's famously sold Monroe's personal collection, including much of her glamorous wardrobe.

Like many of Marilyn's belongings, the bag features her monogram, "MM", embroidered in silver on the interior pocket. Also featuring a double strap with a rhinestone encrusted shell clasp in silver metal, the handbag is adorned with red feathers and lined with matching silk. It is currently selling for $10,871.

Also featuring in the sale is Monroe's luxurious pink bathrobe, whichshe wore while in makeup for the filming of The Prince and the Showgirl. The 1957 film saw Monroe star alongside Sir Laurence Olivier, and the robe originates from the collection ofOlivier's personal dresser for the film, Harry Jordan. Sold complete with a photograph of Monroe wearing the robe, it is currently selling at $7,423 after attracting four bids.

PFC Auctions has a very exciting piece for discerning Marilyn Monroe collectors. Its latest sale features Monroe's personal copy of the script for Something's Got to Give, her final, unreleased film. Also starring are three autographs from Marilyn Monroe, Laurence Oliver and Jeremy Spenserthat originate from the release of the Prince and the Showgirl in 1957.
