Margaret Thatcher's shoes auctioning at PFC Auctions

Two pairs of Margaret Thatcher-worn shoes are garnering intense interest at PFC Auctions

PFC Auctions is currently accepting bids on two pairs of Margaret Thatcher's shoes, as well as a number of signed photographs and books.

Following her death earlier this year, much has been said about Britain's first female prime minister's sartorial sensibilities. The lady's handbags, pussy-bow blouses and mid-heeled shoes have all come under severe scrutiny, and it must be said, escaped largely unscathed.

PFC Auctions is offering a pair of bejewelled sling backs and a pair of black, high-heeled pumps to the highest bidder.

Investors are keen to acquire Thatcher's iconic attire: in September 2012, a set of suits crossed the block at Christie's London, bringing a 1,223% increase on their combined estimate.A single, navy blue ensemble made 20,000 ($31,779);a boxy leather handbag once touted by the politician had previously sold for 103,000 ($163,865) in 2000.

Famously quoted as saying, "I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end", Thatcher proved a divisive figure throughout her lifetime.

Yet from a collectible standpoint, controversial figures often prove the most collectible in the long run.

As the old adage goes, in order to fully understand a person, you have to walk a mile in their shoes.

Bidding on Thatcher's shoes is to closetomorrow (May 30). This could be your only opportunity to own intimate items of attire belonging to the lady herself - don't miss out.
