Manchester United tunnel carpet starts at $161 with PFC Auctions

PFC Auctions is selling a unique piece of tunnel carpet from Manchester United's Old Trafford

A unique piece of carpet from the tunnel at Manchester United's Old Trafford is selling in a special single-lot auction this month at PFC Auctions.

Bids on theAstro Turf carpet, whichis also listed for auction at,will run until November 1.

The 115x 74 inch display piece bears thefamous Red Devils team badge with the message "Welcome to Old Trafford".

Old Trafford, often referred to as "The Theatre of Dreams", is one of the world's most famous stadiums, home to the iconic Manchester United for over a century.

Originally laid at the end of the player's tunnel, the carpet was used during some of the club's most important seasons.

The carpet dates to the mid-1990s, which markeda return to the glory years for the club, and would have been walked on by every player of the period, including the likes ofEric Cantona, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane.

Biddingstarts at just 100 ($161).

A PFC Auctions spokesperson commented: Were delighted to be offering such a great piece of football memorabilia.

"Manchester United are one of the worlds biggest clubs, with a rich and storied history. Were sure that fans will jump at the opportunity to own a piece of that history, which was present at the rebirth of the club in the early 1990s and the first league title in a quarter of a century.

The carpet is accompanied by a letter of provenance from the consignor, which explains how he acquired the piece while working for the Astro Turf company that replaced it in June 1996.
