Louis XVI - King of France (1754-1793) (PT39)

An historic one page document signed by the French King

An order to the Treasurer General of his Civil List Jean-Baptiste Tourteau de Speteuil, ordering him to pay 500 livres to the Sieur de Beauval, the officer in charge of the hunt at Compiegne, as a supplement to his salary for the last six months of 1791.

Thisone page letter, written in French, is partly engraved and with the word 'Venerie' [hunting] written at the to right, Paris, 15 October 1791.

Signed by King Louis XVI of France.

The palace of Compiegne was built by Louis XV and was in famous hunting country.

As is well-known, Louis XVI's interest in hunting was almost obsessive.

The letter has some light browning, as is to be expected with a document of this age,and a small vertical split at the very top of the page.

In fine condition overall.
