Lot 631: Author: Zatta, Antonio; Title: L'Impero del Giapon Diviso in Sette Principali Parti cio è Ochio Quanto Jetsegan Jetsen Jamaisoit, Xicoco Ximo; Place Published: Venezia [i.e. Venice]; Publisher: N/A; Date Published: 1785; Description: Copper-engraved map, hand-colored in outline, hand-colored pictorial cartouche. 31x40.3 cm (12 ¼x16").Detailed map of Japan is divided into seven principal provinces, wth numerous towns, mountains, and rivers. The map represents the European cartography of the late 18th century, with a misshapen Honshu and an elongated Lago d'Otis (Lake Biwa). The decorative title cartouche features potted plants and a parasol. Engraved by G. Pitteri. Provenance: P.J. Radford, 1972. Condition: Faint toning; very good or better condition.
