Lot 254: Sea Urchins. A group of 3 fossilised sea urchins together, plus a fourth single specimen Species: Echinoid Clypeus Ploti, found in 'Clypeus Grit' (an oolitic limestone deposit about 175 million years old), Cotswolds, Near Cheltenham, England. A large sea urchin or echinoid from the Upper Bajocian stage of the Jurassic period. The group of three fossilised together is quite rare and were only revealed following extensive reduction of the limestone block in which they were contained. (2)
