Lloyd Flatt's $30k Rothschild stars at Sotheby's

Here's another look at some of the wines on offer in this sale of a very unique collector's wine cellar

Anticipation is building for the sale of the collection of the Lloyd Flatt at Sotheby's, week after next on March 10.

The 1,500 bottles on offer not only promise a fantastic range to collectors, but will also promote the legacy of a renowned collector whose iconoclastic sense of human and unique attitudes to wine have outlasted him.

Sotheby's sale is expected to net a total of $600,000. Highlights will include a jeroboam of Chteau Lafite Rothschild 1959, estimated at $20,000 to $30,000.

Two 6-liter bottles of Louis Roederer Cristal Millennium 1990 are estimated at $10,000 to $15,000 each, and a bottle of Bouchard Pre et Fils Montrachet 1864 at $4,000 to $5,500.

There's also a case of Chteau Haut-Brion Blanc 1989 estimated at $10,000 to $15,000.

Flatt was a firm believer that what is inside the bottle is more important than the price, and was known for his generosity when sharing his expensive wine among friends and strangers.
