Leonardo DiCaprio's Titanic coat valued at up to $70,000

A coat worn by Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic will auction on October 17-20

The coat worn by Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson in James Cameron's Titanic is up for auction at Profiles In History in Los Angeles.

Valued at $50,000-70,000, the piece could prove one of the highlights of the October 17-20 sale.

Joseph Maddelena, president and CEO of Profiles In History, commented: "What better piece of film memorabilia than Jack's highly recognizable coat to launch our Hollywood Auction?

"DiCaprio wore it throughout the beginning of the film and most notably in the unforgettable sequence when he, 'Jack' hoists himself onto the bow of the cruising ocean liner proclaiming 'I'm the king of the world!' a quote which now ranks #100 by the American Film Institute's top 100 movie quotations in American Cinema."

The original Mackinaw, Norfolk style coat was selected by the film's costume designer and not duplicated during production.

Memorabilia from the film has sold well in the past, with a dress worn by Kate Winslet achieving $330,000 at Profiles In History in 2012.

Other lots in the sale includeRobert Baratheon's crownfrom season one of the wildly popular HBO series Game of Thrones.

The lot carries an estimate in excess of $15,000 and is likely to see strong bidding.

The sale will also include the "Captain America" chopper ridden by Peter Fonda in the groundbreaking Easy Rider (1969).
