Lennon's Vox guitar organ could sell for $350,000 at Sotheby's New York

Lennon's Vox guitar organ is among the highlights of the Rock and Roll History auction

A Vox guitar organ prototype belonging to John Lennon is among the top lots of Sotheby's Rock and Roll History auction in New York on June 24.

The lot is valued at $250,000-350,000.

Vox guitar organThe guitar organ proved unpopular with rock royalty and the public alike

Company director Dick Denny gave the lot, which comprises a Continental Organ combined with a Phantom guitar, to the Beatle in 1964.

The model can be played as either a guitar, organ or both combined - with electric sensors under the frets acting as the keys.

It was never played live or in the studio as it turned out to be surprisingly difficult to operate and was later given to Mal Evans, long-time roadie for the band.

Elvis Presley's "Peacock" jumpsuit is estimated to make $200,000-300,000.

The piece is currently the most valuable item of stage-worn clothing from Elvis, selling for $300,000 in 2008.

Bill Belew and the JC Costume Company created the outfit in collaboration with the singer at a cost of $10,000 - an astronomical figure during the early 1970s.

He wore it throughout 1974 before presenting it to Paul Lichter, a promoter and manager who has since written a number of books on Elvis' life and career.

Memorabilia pertaining to Elvis is highly sought after among collectors. In January of this year, his "Concho" jumpsuit made $197,000 at Julien's Auctions.

We have a range of Elvis memorabilia available, including this signed photograph from his army days.

The sale will also feature the original lyrics to Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone, which are expected to set a new world record.
