'Largest no-reserve car auction' to be held in US

Renowned British auction house Coys is bringing its 500 lot, first-ever US car show to Houston, Dallas

Coys, one of the pre-eminent British auction houses, is bringing its first auction to the US on September 19.

Over 500 automobiles, all from a single private collection, will appear in the sale at Houston, Dallas. And 200 of them will be for sale with 'no reserve' price whatsoever.

This will therefore be the largest no-reserve car auction in American history.

Automobiles going under the hammer will include a 1953 Jaguar XK 120 Drophead Coupe, a 1985 Lamborghini Jalpa, a 1958 Porsche 356 Coupe and a 1916 Packard Twin-Six Runabout, according to Coys press release.

European cars include a 1967 Mercedes Benz 280Sl Convertible, a 1985 Lamborghini Jalpa, a 1980 Maserati Kyalami coupe, and a 1958 Porsche 356 Coupe.

American cars include a 1916 Packard Twin-Six Runabout, a 1943 Lincoln Continental Coupe, a 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 convertible, body off restoration and a 1951 Studebaker Commander convertible.

"For a number of years we have been exploring the possibility of opening up a USA operation to complement our international operations in Germany and Italy, which are fully developed," said Chris Routledge, Managing Director of Coys, in a statement.

"The consignment of such a substantial 'no reserve' collection of predominantly European historic cars gives us great impetus and energy and we look forward to further sales in the USA."

Coys are running the auction in conjunction with the Leake Auction Company.

Coys first US sale will be held on September 19 at the Houston Reliant Centre, Number 1 Reliant Park, Houston, Texas, 77054.
