Lalanne's work is no stranger to the upper echelons of auctions. Three of his sheep-based works auctioned for a combined 1.6m ($2.5m)last year.

Yesterday's sale also featured Cake, a circa 2008 stool fashioned by Brazilian brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana.

Comprising a menagerie of stuffed animals, the work sold for $31,250, just above its $30,000 high estimate.
