The Jane Austen House Museum has now managed to raise the 149,000 ($238,000) needed to secure the ring, which was the subject of an export bar from culture minister Ed Vaisey following Clarkson's 152,450 purchase from Sotheby's in 2012.

The ring was barred from leaving the UK due to its historical importance, as one of the few personal items belonging to the author that have survived today, and one of just three jewellery pieces.

The museum has invited Kelly Clarkson to visit the house, which is where Austen wrote allsix of her completed novels.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has a fantastic stock of rare literary collectibles for sale.
