Keith Haring charity auction features $156,500 sculpture

Sotheby's and the Keith Haring Foundation have joined forces to raise funds

Sotheby's has joined forces with the Keith Haring Foundation and Galerie Jerome de Noirmont tohelp restore a mural painted by Haring at Paris' Necker children's hospital in 1987.

The monumental work is painted on the hospital's outer walls and weather has sadly taken its toll on its condition. In response, 26 international artists have donated 32 works to a special auction on April 17 in Paristo raise funds for its restoration.

The auction will be highlighted by a 1987 Keith Haring sculpture thatis expected to sellfor $78,200-156,400.

All the auction proceeds will go to the hospital, exclusively for restoring the mural. Sotheby's is offering its support by staging the sale free of charge and waiving buyer and vendor's premiums.
