A collection of memorabilia gathered by John Perona, former owner of the famous Manhattan club El Morocco went under the hammer at Doyle New York this week, realizing a sale total of $376,319. The club was frequented by the rich and famous from the 1930s until the 1960s and Perona managed to gather an impressive collection of star studded memorabilia in that time. One of the lots which sold was 'El Morocco's Family Album' which contained signatures from some of the clubs most famous patrons including Marlene Dietrich and Cecil Beaton. The album hammered for $5,938 at the sale.
