John Lennon's corduroy jacket brings $14,000 to PFC Auctions

A John Lennon owned and worn corduroy jacket sold among world-class memorabilia

The results are in for PFC Auctions' latest sale, which closed last night (May 30), with John Lennon's corduroy jacketproviding one of the standout lots.

The jacket, which was worn by the former Beatle in the late 1960s, sold for 9,240 ($14,011). It was accompanied by a Marquee Capital certificate of authenticity.

Also accompanying the jacket, which is typical of Lennon's style in this era, was a signed affidavit from Barry Jarlett, son of Dorothy Jarlett.

Dorothywas housekeeper to John and Cynthia Lennon at Kenwood -their home in Weybridge, Surrey - and would often receive items to keep as mementos.

The finely tailored Bodner-Elem jacket represents Lennon's newfound wealth.

Also featuring among the music memorabilia was Lady Gaga's acrylic fingernail, which made 10,200 ($15,514), andElton John's red jumpsuit, which brought 1,980 ($3,002).

The suit came with fantastic provenance, having been purchased by legendary collector Dick Clark from an Elton John charity auction in London in 1994.

Elsewhere, a stunning collection of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia sold for a combined 8,976 ($13,611). Starring was a pre-1950s woollen bathing suit worn by the young starlet, which sold for 3,300 ($5,004).

Achieving an identical sale price was Marilyn Monroe's obsidian and rhinestone necklace, which was joined by a personally owned gold effect locket that realised 2,376 ($3,603).
