Jean-Michel Frank art deco table brings 'minimalist luxury' to Paris sale
Jean-Michel Frank's furniture designs are unique and should attract high bids in this Paris auction
The latest news from the art deco furniture markets includes the upcoming sale of this rare Jean-Michel Frank table in Paris, tomorrow (March 14).
French interior designer Jean-Michel Frank (1895-1941) remains best-known for his minimalist interiors, usually decorated with plain-lined furniture.
This piece reflects Frank's minimalist leanings, and also his use of luxury materials.
This Jean-Michel Frank Art Deco table could sell for 60,000 in Paris
The art deco table has a crafted patinated bronze-brown circular marble surface, and its marble top is dug-out to fit into the mounting base of its legs.
Frank's table measures 62cm in height and 35cm in depth, and carries a 40,000-60,000 presale estimate.
This may seem like a lot for a small table, but it's less surprising if you consider Jean-Michel Frank's past auction successes.

Big sales have included this Jean-Michel Frank club armchair. At first glance, this chair seems as innocuous as the marble table. Yet it sold for $168,000 at Sotheby's in 2005.
It will therefore be interesting to see how his table does in the Paris auction, tomorrow.
