James Bond movie poster collection to auction for $200,000

It is the most comprehensive collection of James Bond movie posters ever auctioned

An outstanding collection of rare James Bond movie posters has been consigned to a December 15-16 auction in Los Angeles.

The auction house describes it as "the most comprehensive collection of Bond movie posters to ever reach the market", featuring well over 100 posters representing every title in the series.

James Bond movie poster auction From Russia With Love Renato Fratini's artwork is the most coveted among collectors

At the top of the sale will be the "holy grail" for Bond poster collectors: the From Russia with Love world premiere advance UK "quad". Quadsare UK posters that measure 30 inches by 40 inches and are printed in landscape format.

Created by Renato Fratini for the world-premiere of the film in London's Leicester Square in 1963, the From Russia with Love poster is undoubtedly the rarest of all theatrical release posters from the series, with only a small number ever printed. According to the auction house, "less than a handful" of these posters are still in existence, warranting an estimate of $10,000-15,000.

Following is another UK quad, this time for 1965's Thunderball. The poster is from the very first issue and is printed with the sea-foam green background that was later replaced with white. Featuring Robert McGinnis' legendary artwork, it is expected to sell for $4,000-6,000.

Also featuringwill be 100+ stills, lobby cards, scripts and pressbooks, with more James Bond memorabilia expected to join the current listings shortly.

The auction follows the outstandingJames Bond50th anniversary sale at Christie's, which featured an array of the finest memorabilia and props from the series' remarkable history. See our Top Five James Bond memorabilia for more of the most exciting lots seen at auction.
