James Bond '007''s original Aston Martin DB5 sells for $4.1m in London

And people on the streets of London could soon be treated to a glimpse of the 'Goldfinger' DB5...

A collector has bought the one of the most iconic automobiles of the 20th century an auction for 2.6m ($4,107,560). And he's vowed to take it for a spin around the streets of London...

The silver 1964 Aston Martin DB5, driven in the first two James Bond '007' films Goldfinger and Thunderball by star Sean Connery, was sold to American buyer Harry Yeaggy.

Auctioned by RM yesterday (October 27), the Aston Martin is one of only two -and the sole remaining -of the original "007" DB5s which featured on screen with Connery, the original Bond.

Beneath the car's sleek and beautiful bodywork are a number of famous "Q" gadgets including a bullet-proof shield, revolving number plates and an oil slick sprayer.

The car was previously owned by Philadelphia broadcasting boss Jerry Lee. Lee bought the DB5 for 12,000 in 1969, and was its first and only ex-factory owner.

According to reports, My Yeaggy is likely to display the car at a automobiles museum in Ohio, US. The collector told reporters that his decision to travel to London and buy the car had been "last minute".
