Jaeger LeCoultre Hybris Mecanique watches set sold separately for the first time

Three Jaeger LeCoultre watches sold as the Hybris Mecanique set are to be sold from a collection

We've been waiting eagerly for an upcoming New York auction of fine watches which has been trailed for a while now. Whilst there have been various minor sales involving watches this year, this one, from one of the world major specialists is the largest of the year to date.

The Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces auction is to be held in Hong Kong on February 26th and will feature 452 timepieces, antique and modern, led by three watches from one of our favourite watchmakers Jaeger LeCoultre which hail from a private collection.

(See our tribute to the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso series here.)

The three watches from Jaeger LeCoultre are being sold individually for the first time. They were originally offered as a set named Hybris Mecanique in 2009, which has stayed with the same private collector until now. The three watches are:

Two white gold Gyrotourbillons, One and Two, each Numbered 02/20 and each with an 18k white gold case.

Jaeger LeCoultre White Gold Reverso Triptyque Grand Complication watch The Jaeger LeCoultre White Gold Reverso TriptyqueGrand Complication watch (estimated at HK$3m)

The former is a perpetual calendar bi-retrograde date spherical tourbillon wristwatch boasting equation of time and leap year calendar complications. It is accompanied by a fitted box and magnifying glass.

The latter is a large reversible spherical tourbillon wristwatch and is offered with a fitted box, guarantee certificate, instruction booklet and magnifying glass.

A little different from both of these is a white gold Reverso 'Triptyque' Grand Complication (also numbered 02/20, naturally enough).

It too is aperpetual calendar triple-dial reversible tourbillon wristwatch with retrograde date, and also offers civil time, equation of time, sidereal time and even a sky chart and comes with its original box.
