Huge celebrity autograph collection set for '$5m' auction

Ken Kallin's huge celebrity autograph collection will raise funds for his ill daughter

A huge collection of celebrity autographs is coming to auction this week.

Florida-based Ken Kallin is selling off his lifetime's hobby to fund treatment for his daughter, who suffers from a serious disease.

Muhammad Ali autograph Muhammad Alis autograph is among thousands on offer

The autographs will appear at auction across nine lots on October 27.

The autographed photos section, valued at $425,000-2.8m, is among the most highly anticipated, comprising more than 22,500 individual items, including rarities from Neil Armstrong and Muhammad Ali.

We have individual Armstrong and Ali autographs to buy today.

Armstrong was the best performing signature between 2011 and 2012, according to the PFC40 Autograph Index, with his signed photos up by 26.05% - sparked by a surge of interest following his death.

At 1,200 ($1,934), Ali remains one of the most undervalued autographs, according to the index, a fact that could well change when he is no longer with us.

Also featuring will be more than 7,300 autographed books, valued at $175,000-375,000.

"Guinness is going to verify that this is the largest collection of books ever sold that were all autographed," the auction house's Scott Grasso told news channel WSVN.

A fine collection of more than 1,400 autographed letters, from all walks of life, have a $15,000 high estimate, while a 60,000-strong line-up of signed trading cards is expected to achieve between $225,000 and $1.7m.

Kallin began collection in 1980 after he acquired five Bette Davis autographs directly from the actress.

Film posters, vintage Tintin books, sheet music and collectible plates round out the collection.
